Question:

Assalamualaikum
is it permissible to work in a bank?
is it permissible to work in a place where you are helping people claim back their insurance? (insurance claims)

Answer:

 Fatwaa no.  070/07

To work in that department of the bank, that has no direct contact with any usury or interest money i.e. the counting or recording of interest etc such as security, logistics and cleaning staff, is permissible according to the opinion of some reliable contemporary Ulama. And that is because the entire finance of the bank is not only sourced from interest.

To work in a place where you help people claim unlawful insurance is not permissible. And that is because the entire finance of the insurance company is sourced from haraam money and the wages will be paid from that money.
