dear Shaikh,

My question to you is that is the meat from giraffe if slaughtered in the appropriate Islamic manner (zabh) would it Halaal to eat. Also what makes the question some what dubious is that the animal is known to have a temper and its kick can kill ? Jazakallah wa Ahsanul Jazaa fid Dunya wal Aakhirah.

 Fatwaa no.  119/07

A lot of Ulama have accepted the giraffe to be herbivore and have pronounced it to be Halaal. We prefer the opinion of those who say that it is not Haraam.
